After a rather long stand-off since February, the Maldivian Democratic Party and a representative of the government will sit down next week to try and find a way forward out of the political impasse in Maldives.“[Dr.] Waheed’s government has assigned their Vice-President Mohamed Waheedheen to participate in the talks agreed among Leaders of Political Parties represented in Parliament. The talks are scheduled to start 11.00 a.m. at the President’s Office this Tuesday 14 August 2012,” said Hamid Abdul Ghafoor, MDP spokesperson.
