The photograph of a monkey sharing food with a cow captioned “Milk of animal kindness,” (Sept. 8) is excellent. In fact, it is one of the best published by The Hindu so far. In these days of mistrust, suspicion and, above all, lack of concern among people of different communities in not only India but the whole world, the photograph portrayed everything that is humane. It brought out the important aspect of sharing. If animals can be so considerate, why not human beings?

The photograph was poignant. Such a gesture by animals indeed sends out a loud message and teaches the greedy human beings the need to share. Can we not learn a lesson or two from this great deed of an animal of lesser intellect? The photo should have been published on the front page.
