Easy win for Vaishali




R. Vaishali scored a fluent 45-move win over Tamil Nadu teammate Varsha to be among the leaders after three rounds in the Ramco National under-13 girls’ chess championship here on Sunday.


Seven players including top seed Vaishali are in the lead with full three points in the girls’ section. The Other six are Manasa, Bidhar, Priyanka, Shiny Das, Bakshi and Bhagya Jayesh.


FIDE Master Aravindh Chithambaram won a rook for minor piece on move 14 and used that advantage to defeat Mangesh Harsh in 35 moves.


Aravindh is among the 15 leaders after three rounds. Eight rounds remain to be played.

Teja Suresh (AP) 2 lost to Harsha Bharathakoti (AP) 3; Ritviz Parab (Goa) 3 bt Vignesh (TN) 2; A. Prathish (TN) 2 lost to A.L. Muthaiah (TN) 3; T. Selvabharathy (TN) 2.5 drew with M. Aadhityaa (TN) 2.5.


Girls: R. Vaishali (TN) 3 bt C.R. Varsha (TN) 2, Bakshi Rutuja (Mah) 3 bt N.G. Sneha (Pud) 2, Bidhar Rutumbara (Odi) 3 bt C.H. Meghna (Ker) 2; Shiny Das (Tri) 3 bt K. Vaisalie (TN) 2; R. Manjula (TN) 2 lost to K. Priyanka (TN) 3; Bhagya Jayesh (Ker) 3 bt S. Ananya (Kar); P.L. Kavitha (TN) 2 lost to H.R. Manasa (Kar).
