Newspaper editor, bodyguard booked for worker’s murder




Nagpur police booked the editor in chief of a Marathi newspaper Deshonnati and his bodyguard for the murder of a worker of the newspaper on Sunday.


Prakash Pohare, the editor in chief of the Deshonnati newspaper and his bodyguard Harikrishna Triwedi have been booked for the murder Rajendra Krishnaji Dupare, a security guard at the paper’s printing press unit near Gondkhairi village on the National Highway no .6, according to Nagpur Rural police.


Prakash Pohare had ordered removal of some newspaper workers a few days ago. On Saturday evening Mr. Pohare visited this printing press unit with his bodyguards.


“Mr. Pohare asked some of the workers present at the unit to leave and told them that their final dues have been sent to their home. Mr. Pohare asked his bodyguards to push the workers out of the unit which led to a scuffle. Mr. Pohare’s bodyguard Harikrishna Triwedi fired one shot killing Rajendra Krishnaji Dupare,” the PRO of Nagpur Police Rural Mr.Vijay Pande told The Hindu over phone.


Police have arrested Harikrishana Trivedi but Mr. Pohare is still at large.
