Nagaraj (32), an undertrial lodged at the Coimbatore Central Prison, died at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Sunday.
According to sources, the prison officials rushed him to the hospital on Saturday after he complained of chest pain. He died there on Sunday.
He was arrested for his alleged involvement in theft and robbery cases in the Sulur Police Station limits.
Man arrested
The Singanallur Police arrested Dhandapani (29) of Valparai, on the charge of attempting to steal valuables from his neighbour.
The police said that Dhandapani entered Siva’s house in Neelikonampalayam on Saturday night and attempted to steal half-a-sovereign ring and Rs. 500.
Siva nabbed him and handed him over to the police.
Commits suicide
Vijayamohan (30) of Velandipalayam committed suicide at his residence on Saturday.
According to the Saibaba Colony Police, the plumber resorted to the extreme step by hanging.
Earlier, Vijayamohan’s sister took his wife Chitra with her after she witnessed him harassing her.
Alms seeker dies
An unidentified alms seeker was killed in a freak accident in front of the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Sunday evening.
According to sources, the person was injured when a branch of a tree fell on him. He was rushed to the Hospital but succumbed to the injuries. The police have registered a case.
