I am sorry to state that the article “Taking the aggression out of masculinity,” by Sanjay Srivastava (Op-Ed, Jan.3) projected Swami Vivekananda in a wrong way. Swamiji was a man who always preached the divinity of the soul, not the masculine features of a man or a male God. His words and work are important for the country, and the youth in particular, not how he stands or how masculine his physical features are. I condemn the use of Swamiji’s name in such an unwanted way by the author. You must be aware that the country is going to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and on such an auspicious occasion, it is a shame on your part to portray Swamiji as a symbol of masculinity, forgetting everything he did and preached in his lifetime, and thereby marginalising the ideals he stood for, which always emphasised the dignity of womanhood and furthermore, the divinity of the soul that goes beyond the conceptions of man and women.
