Two officials felicitated at customs day celebration

Theme for this year's celebration is ‘innovation for Customs progress’



Felicitating two officials in recognition of their meritorious service marked the International Customs Day celebrated at the Office of the Chief Commissioner of Customs (Preventive), Tiruchi zone, on Tuesday. The theme of this year’s celebrations is ‘innovation for Customs progress’.


K. Anantha Padmanabhan, Chief Commissioner of Customs (Preventive), presided over the function and felicitated A. Jebastin, Superintendent of Customs, who has been awarded President’s Award for ‘specially distinguished record of service’ on the occasion of Republic Day and R. Subramanian, Superintendent of Customs, who was instrumental in making a seizure of 156 gold bars weighing 15.6 kgs and valued at about Rs. 4.56 crore in 2011.


This is the first time that the International Customs Day was celebrated at relocation and rechristening of the Customs (Preventive) zone from Chennai to Tiruchi.


A. V. Krishnan, Executive Director, BHEL, was the chief guest. S. Dharmaraj, Airport Director, Airports Authority of India, S. Narasimhan, vice chairman, Sattva Business Group, Chennai, were the guests of honour. M. K. Parashivamurthy, Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Customs division, made a presentation on the activities of Customs (Preventive), Tiruchi zone. K. Engineer, Additional Commissioner of Customs, M. Tamizh Vendan, Deputy Commissioner of Customs, were also present.
