Peaceful Id in Kotwali area

Normality prevailed for the second day in Kotwali area here on Monday and Id-ul-Fitr was celebrated peacefully.

Prayers were conducted amid tight security, with the Rapid Action Force and the Central Reserve Police Force keeping a close watch. There were restrictions on use of loudspeakers or bands in the area of Friday’s violence.

On Monday evening, District Magistrate Anil Kumar and Senior Superintendent of Police Mohit Agarwal led a convoy of RAF through the area for vigilance.

Curfew was imposed on Friday evening after around 100 vehicles and more than a dozen shops were damaged in stone pelting, following a protest rally over the violence in Assam. The curfew was relaxed early on Saturday.
