‘Just have to execute plans, going forward’

Darren Sammy stressed that the West Indies is prepared for the ICC World Twenty20’s Super Eights though both its Group B matches were marred by rain.

“The weather is something that you cannot control, and as professionals we got to make-do. We back ourselves to do well,” the West Indies captain said after inclement weather forced the abandonment of its contest against Ireland at the half-way stage.

The skipper also emphasised that his bowling unit would be in fine fettle during the tougher games.

“I believe that what happened against Australia was one-off. I back our bowlers to come good.

“We just got to execute our plans and restrict the other teams,” Sammy said.

Meanwhile Ireland’s captain William Porterfield said he felt that more matches for it in the ICC’s Future Tours Programme will help the emerging outfit gain more exposure.
