Seven held on charge of selling SIM cards on fake ID papers




Seven persons were arrested by the Gajuwaka police on charge of selling SIM cards for mobile telephone connections on fake identity papers. As many as 2,100 such SIM cards of mobile service providers except the BSNL (CellOne) were seized from them. Six of them were issuing SIM cards by operating from temporary shops on the roadsides while a distributor J. Kamalesh of Adavivaram was supplying them the SIM cards, Commissioner of Police J. Purnachandra Rao said at a press conference on Monday. Several copies of application forms and ID proof of genuine applicants were prepared by the accused and SIMs were issued to those not having the ID, he explained the way the seven were committing the fraud.


Additional DCPs Achyuta Rao and Suresh Babu; ACP (Gajuwaka) Ravibabu and Circle Inspector (Gajuwaka) Appala Raju were also present at the press conference. The arrested persons were G. Naga Surya Kumar of Maddilapalem, M. Surya Manoj of Dabagardens, R. Sreenu of Gajuwaka, R. Koteswara Rao of Thatichetlapalem, N. Ramana of Kancharapalem, A. Nagaraju of Maddilapalem and distributor J. Kamalesh.


4 arrested


The police picked up four persons near the Government Victoria Hospital for Women and Child on Monday night, suspecting them to be child kidnappers, according to unconfirmed reports.


House burgled


Unidentified persons broke into the apartment of a retired lecturer of Hindustan Shipyard College A. Krishna Murthy at the Srujana Enclave in Pithapuram colony and took away gold ornaments weighing 13 tolas, silver articles and Rs. 20,000.
